Marvel Media Mania: The Amazing Spider-Man: The Chinese Web (1979)

The Amazing Spider-Man: The Chinese Web was the two-hour series finale for The Amazing Spider-Man TV show from 1979. It was later released under the title The Amazing Spider-Man: Dragon's Challenge.

By the end of the series, this show was really refined. Plots, characters, and effects were all more interesting than the earlier episodes.

The plot of this two-hour episode was that Peter Parker was trying to prove the innocence of a Chinese man accused of being a spy during World War II. A British businessman from Honk Kong is trying to have this same man killed.

Spider-Man's spider-sense was slightly tweaked by this point in the series. Instead of red and blue flashing lights it was two circles over his eyes that flashed yellow and orange.

The great thing about this episode was the kung-fu action. Seeing Spider-Man take on a bunch of guys throwing karate kicks is great.

Perhaps the most memorable scene from this episode was the scene in which Spider-Man is unmasked and his identity as Peter Parker was exposed when medical aid is giving to him after he's knocked out by a poison dart.

The Spider-Man swinging and climbing action remains great in this series-ending episode.

Overall, the final episode maintained the quality of the series.

1LR Review - 14 out of 20! It's a Hit!
