| Shaun of the Dead... zombies? Or not? |
Frankly, if you've never seen this film you have got to. No, it's certainly not the best zombie film every made. Nor is it the best comedy ever made. It can barely make up its mind on what it wants to be. In the end, it ends up being a bit of everything. It's a action horror comedy spoof parody wrapped around sharp social commentary.
Shaun of the Dead points out that we all live our lives like zombies. We shuffle through our days with bleary eyes, killing time at meaningless jobs, turning off our brains to stare at the television, and grunting greetings at one another. Maybe that's why so many can identify with zombies. Because in many ways, the zombie infestation has already hit. And we're all already infected.
